Red Chest - Little Lady
The kingfisher rested above the current waiting for the small fish to swim by. I could tell the bird was a female because of the reddish chest. Males lack that coloration, a reversal of most birds, where the male is brighter. Kingfishers nest in dark burrows, so what the red is for I'm not sure. Suddenly, the bird jumped straight down into the water and came up with dinner. Screaming it's yack, yack, yack it disappeared around the distant bend, probably heading for that burrow - and young.
