This is a signed and numbered giclee print from an original acrylic painting by Larry Eifert. The artist warrants that there will not be more than 350 individual signed printed in the size and paper stated.
Bull thistles may not be a native plant, and they may be a nuisance to many who prefer manicured yards, but don't try to explain all this to an American goldfinch.  These bright yellow little finches seem always ready to brave the thorns and make a run at the thistle's abundant seeds.
Why these two, the goldfinch and the thistle, both seem so suited to sunny places is interesting to contemplate.  I cannot imagine a brilliant male goldfinch in a tree's shade, and cannot picture a bull thistle in showy full magenta bloom being happy to grow under the forest's canopy.  These two are definitely designed for happier, sunny places.
